Maddy’s Sexy Mama video in trouble

The “Sexy Mama” song for the film 13B has landed its producers Reliance Big Pictures in trouble. While the producers wanted a U/A certificate for the film, the Censor Board decided on Adults Only certificate because the word “sexy” is used too much in the song. Sexy Mama is a video shot exclusively for promo purposes. However, the Censor Board is yet to decide on rating the film for a theatrical release.

Perturbed by the A certificate, the producers decided to opt for the word “Crazy” instead. The music directors of 13B Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy immediately jumped into action to make the necessary changes.

The Tamil version of 13B, Yaavarum Nalam still has the S word and it needs to be seen if the changes would reflect here.

Seeman sentenced to 1 year imprisonment

Director Seeman has been sentenced to one year imprisonment by the Puducherry court. Seeman, who was arrested by the Tamil Nadu police, was out on bail for delivering speeches on the Sri Lankan issue, which was considered to be detrimental to India’s sovereignty.

The director’s recent speech at an event in Puducherry again fueled controversies and the Puducherry police were on the look out for him.

Seeman ultimately surrendered in Nellai after participating in yet another Sri Lankan rally. The case against Seeman for sedition was taken up by the Puducherry court and he was sentenced to one year imprisonment under the National Security Act. This is probably the first time a director from the Tamil film industry is being sentenced under this Act.

Ilayathalapathy Vijay As Brand Ambassador

Well, amongst Kollywood stars it’s Ilayathalapathy Vijay who’s been constantly roped in for more brand ambassadorships. Coco-Cola had earlier roped in Vijay as its brand ambassador during the year 2000-03.
Later, as the brand manufacturers felt that the product can peak in markets without any celebrities. Now as Vijay’s popularity is gone ahead amongst young guys especially in rural areas, the product managers have approached him for the ambassadorship deal.
One of the sources revealed that Vijay would start filming for the commercial ad of Coco-Cola’s latest theme of ‘Open Happiness’. Also added that the commercial will be aired within next couple of weeks on all media channels… Earlier, during last year Vijay was offered the brand ambassadorship for ‘Chennai Super Kings’ in T-20 Tournament. One of the leading trade analysts of Tamil Film’s box office collection had recently stated that though Vijay’s recent films hadn’t done extremely well at box office, producers are on their heels of increasing his remuneration.

The movie is produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin's 'Red Giant'. The cast of the movie inclusive of 50 artists will be Suriya, Nayantara and Vadivelu and the direction is performed by KS Ravikumar.

Suriya will be playing an anti-hero kind of role in this film, something which he has not done before".

Kamal Haasan's classic hit rehashed

Kamal Haasan's yesteryear romantic hit of all time is a memorable movie and the mere mention of its name will evoke nostalgic memories in the minds of people of those times. The blockbuster hit movie is 'Marocharithra' starring Kamal Haasan and Saritha, directed by K Balachandar. Even though it's a Telugu film, the movie is well recognized in Tamil too. If the name doesn't sound familiar, one might rarely be unacquainted with the Bollywood super hit 'Ek Duje Keliye' featuring Kamal Haasan (once again) and Rati Agnihotri in the lead cast.

SP Balasubramaniam sang the chartbuster hit 'Tere Mee Beechume' composed by veteran music director MS Viswanathan. The tragic love story in the lines of Shakespeare's classic literature is now being rehashed for the younger generation to be directed by debutant Ravi Yadav, an erstwhile cinematographer of Bollywood films.

The film is being produced simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu by popular Telugu producer 'Dil' Raju, who earlier made the original Telugu version of films like 'Santosh Subramaniam'. Varun Sandesh and Anita play the lead pair in the film. Trivial news is Varun Sandesh is a young actor in Telugu who's now playing the lead in the remake of Dhanush's 'Polladhavan'. For now it has been tentatively titled as ‘Marocharithra’ in Telugu and the Tamil title is yet to be unveiled.

shahrukh Khan's next movie

Murugadoss had been basking in glory over the astounding success of Ghajini, but he seems to have moved on to his next project already. It is well known that the director enjoyed a good rapport with his film’s male lead Aamir Khan.

But moving on to his next project, Murugadoss seems to prefer Aamir’s arch rival Shah Rukh. Industry sources are buzzing with news that Shah Rukh could star in Murugadoss’s next venture. Cinematographer Ravi Chandran, currently working with Shah Rukh in ‘My Name is Khan’ is said to have set the ball rolling. He will act as a bridge between SRK and Murugadoss.

Siva Manasula Sakthi - Movie Review

Vikatan talkies’ Siva Manasula Sakthi is a youthful entertainer. Dealing with the mutation of friendship that buds and blossoms into love, the film has captured some enjoyable niceties in the process.

Siva (Jiiva) is a jolly good fellow. After failing twice in his twelfth exams, Siva takes up a job as a delivery boy in a courier company. While all his days slip away travelling hither and yon in the city’s destinations, Siva happily spends the nights in his friends’ company. Together, they drink, smoke, joke and make merry. Siva’s mother (Urvasi) is happy with the meagre income he gives her to run the family. She always pampers her only son and enjoys life’s small pleasures along with him. In fact, Siva’s only sister Viji knows him better than their mom.

One day on a commute out of the city, Siva meets Shakthi(Anuya). Feeling mutually attracted both exchange mundane details about themselves during the travel. Siva feels heady to have Shakthi’s friendship and as soon as he gets back home, making use of the details furnished by her, both try meeting each other at their respective workplaces. But to their dismay, all the details turn out to be bogus and made up. The disappointment provokes both Siva and Shakthi and soon, both of them are pitted against each other.

What happens next? Do they fall in love? Does the love last long? Or do they just end up as fighter-cocks? SMS will definitely make you enjoy the experiences.

Jiiva is just in his element. With that local lingo, casual attitude and typical youthful handling, he is the one who steals the show. For Anuya, it is an effortless role. Mouthing the dialogues perfectly in line with her dubbed voice and showing off an equally adamant attitude towards Siva, she is the lady who wins at the end. Urvashi has done a comedy-sprinkled role in the movie. Many of her dialogues kindle a good laugh. Ku.Gnanasambandan as Anuya’s father too has done a good job. Arya appears in a couple of scenes as Anuya’s fiance.

Yuvan’s tunes are full of stylish raps and rocking music. Camera by Vijay Milton and Vaithi travel alng with the story. Rajesh.M. has presented a truly youth-related storyline through SMS. Lot of places reflect reality and hence is well-received.

BLACK MAN BIG HISTORY

What is the biggest question star-crazy persons in Tamil Nadu are asking now? Is RAJNI acting in Engal Arasan?! Ever since Engal Arasan promos – showing Rajinikanth with the caption “black man, big history” – appeared on walls, his fans are in a frenzy!

Engal Arasan
Some are confused if superstar has decided to do an interim project to enthrall his fans who will have to wait for more than a year for the release of ENDHIRAN (also spelt as Enthiran)! But a Rajni film cannot start so secretively! And everyone knows that too!
The caption “black man, big history” is what has caught the attention of the public. Truly, in a world obsessed with lighter skin colour, some of the biggest history makers are dark-skinned. People who worry about their skin colour should draw inspiration from dark-skinned leaders. Rajni is dark but never allowed that to stand in his way to his super stardom (linguists should coin some new term to describe his stardom; it is so great!). His achievement – from a humble man to a film artist recognized internationally – is phenomenal! Barack Obama is dark-skinned, but he did not let his colour or race prevent him from becoming the president of USA. It is definitely not easy to overcome the stigma that society attaches with skin colour. Rajni’s achievement in cinema is nothing short of Barack Obama’s recent history-making victory. Truly, Rajni is a legend and a living example of the adage “black is beautiful”!
More intriguing is another byline seen in the promo – “indru vettai, viraivil kottai” – which alludes to his fans’ wish that the actor should enter politics. Well, keep visiting worldcinema1.blogspot.com. We will bring more updates about this movie which seems to be about the phenomenon called Rajinikanth!
Soon, you can also relish a re-release of Baasha, a mega hit of Rajinikanth. Yes! Baasha, a film released in 1996 and considered one of the best Rajni films ever, will be re-released in 11 theatres in Chennai on February 27th. It looks like Rajni fans are in for a big treat this month!

Arya and Vijayakanth on the same spot

Basking in glory after the rave reviews and critical acclaim that he got for his role in Naan Kadavul, Arya is now finding himself busy with some meaty roles coming his way. He has already completed work on Sarvam, which again was directed by one of the biggies in the industry – Vishnuvardhan.

Arya's next film, for the late Jeeva's assistant Manikandan, took off in Karaikudi recently. Manikandan had completed the remaining work of Dhaam Dhoom after Jeeva's untimely demise. Sharing the screen space with Arya in this film are two heroines – Genelia and Preethi Rao. It is worth mentioning here that Preethi is the sister of Bollywood star Amrita Rao. Music will be scored by Hariharan and Leslie.

The shooting of this film is currently underway in a palatial house in Kanadu Kaathan in Karaikudi. Incidentally, Vijayakanth and team are also camping in the same spot shooting their film Mariyathai.

Two Heroes at Kamal's home

Chevalier Dr Sivaji Ganesan, an actor of versatile portrayals with unmatched prowess of expressions, and comedian Nagesh, the most sought-after actor of the Sivaji-MGR era, known otherwise as the king of clean comedy and character till date, are the only two actors to find a place in the living room of Kamal Haasan's home.

There are no other pictures or portraits in the room other than those of Sivaji and Nagesh, which by itself speaks of Kamal's adulation, affection and reverence to these stalwarts of the celluloid industry. This projects how deeply they have touched Kamal's heart to find a place of prominence in his home.

Mun Dhinam Paartheney

Mun Dhinam Paartheney, with all new faces in the cast, promises to bring a fresh whiff of air in Kollywood. This film, of the romance genre, is brought out in a new perspective. Mun Dhinam Paartheney is directed by Magizh Thirumeni, a debutant himself. He has worked as an assistant to director Gautham Menon, before deciding to wield the megaphone himself.

The star cast includes Sanjay, Ektha, Lizna, and Pooja in prominent roles. Even the supporting cast is newbies! They are: Yogeshwari, Lakshmi Priya, Nisha, Jyothi, Archana, Sai Prasanth, Krishna, Sivaguru, Ramesh, and Kumaran.

Vincent, the cameraman, is trained under the ace cameraman and filmmaker P.C. Sreeram. Thaman Sai has scored the music for this film. Interestingly, he played one of the important roles in the Shankar-produced movie Boys. Editing and art has been handled by Antony and Thota Banu respectively.

Thambikku Indha Ooru

Some filmmakers love to surprise their audience with teaser promos. Without revealing little about their upcoming movies, they release attractive promos to increase public interest and enjoy the surprise on the face of the public!

In a similar fashion, the Thambikku Indha Ooru promo has taken the city by surprise! The title makes the public smile as it is a variation of a Rajni hit. Besides, it looks like the attitude-loaded normal question one may ask a stranger – which place you belong to?

In one of the promos, veteran actor Prabhu is seen carrying Bharath on his strong shoulders; the other attractive promo shows the four main actors of the film. Interestingly, Prabhu’s getup greatly resembles that of Amitabh Bachchan in Sarkar. While Bharath and Ranjith seem to be in an agitated mood in the promo, Vivek, clean-shaved and wearing a wig, looks wary of something! And Sanaa Khan is the heroine!

These promos raise to several questions: Is it a complete action film? Is it a comedy? Is Vivek playing a prominent role? With Badri as the director does it mean Enga Veetu Pillai is renamed Thambikku Indha Ooru? Or is this a new project of the Badri-Bharath team?

Meanwhile, the Engal Arasan promo with Rajinikanth's picture has made the public go ballistic!

After remaking veteran director K Balachander's 'Nan Avan Illai', Selvah is ready with the remake of the recent Bollywood hit 'Yes Boss'.

Seema, a middle-class hostelite, has dreams of making it to the top of the glamorous world of fashion. While Guru begins to love Seema, she naively gets taken in by Krishna's smooth talk and is drawn towards him.
'Guru's dilemma is that he has to keep his boss happy to fulfill his ambition and yet he is aware that his beloved is being conned into a false relationship', Selvah says.

Will Aamir share the screen space with this cricketer?

amir Khan’s association with the soft drinks major Coca Cola started when he entered into a contract to star in its commercial a couple of years ago. As per the new contract, Aamir will be paid Rs. 10 crores. The commercial featuring Aamir was shot about two years ago and the renewal of contract now could probably mean a new commercial is in the offing.Interestingly, cricketer Gautam Gambhir has also
been signed up by Coca Cola. It remains to be seen if the two will feature in the same ad.

VISHAL'S INTEREST

Though Vishal has several projects lined up, he is reportedly showing keen interest in remaking the Telugu flick Souryam in Tamil. The star is presently is busy with Thoranai, which has Shriya as his lead pair. Souryam, based on the sister sentiment, is about a brother going in search of his sister.

Vishal has also zeroed in on the heroine, our sources say. Anushka, who starred in the Telugu version, has been approached to play the same role in Tamil. The

Vishal lady is currently working with Vijay for the film Vettaikaran. The film will be directed by Siva Kumar, the director of Souryam, and produced by Lakshmi Productions.

RAJJINI ABOUT NAN KADAVUL

Bala has been receiving critical acclaims from all quarters for his latest release Naan Kadavul. The latest to join this bandwagon is none other than the Rajnikanth. It is well known that the superstar does not hesitate to praise good work and has always been the first to commend excellent films. The superstar watched Naan Kadavul, which was screened exclusively for him. Impressed by the film, Rajni invited Bala and Arya to his residence to discuss the movie and shower accolades.Rajni had reportedly told Bala: “I’m impressed and stunned with the presentation of the film… only you can make such a movie Bala…” Later he wished both Bala and Arya all success in their future projects.

PAYYA

Lingusamy is on the verge of restarting the shoots for Payya. The first leg of the shoots held briefly on the Bangalore Highway in and around Chennai was recently wrapped up. With that Karthi went to back to his leftover assignment for the Selvaraghavan directed Ayirathil Oruvan.

Lingusamy, however, got busy with other domestic tasks including that of finalizing the interiors of his newly purchased bungalow. Now all that is put to rest and Payya is resuming its shoots from February 12, 2008 in Hyderabad. Starring Karthi and Tammannah, most parts of the movie are planned to be shot on the highways.

Rajini - Ash’s Endhiran coziness

With Endhiran progressing day in and day out, there is no dearth of availability of news about the movie. The team was spotted in several parts of the Chennai city and its suburbs in the recent past. The lead pair, Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had been the cynosure of all eyes, especially the media, who were keen to know every little bit of detail involving them.

Meanwhile, we heard wind of the fact that for one of the intimate shoots involving Rajini and Aishwarya Rai, the crew members, except those of the bare minimum staff, were evacuated from the sets. These scenes were shot by Shankar at the AVM Studio recently. It is also learnt that these scenes are part of a song

Genelia To Sizzle With Arya

Arya, who has completed his part in 'Sarvam' directed by Vishnuvardhan, has decided to do a quickie before commencing 'Madarasa Pattinam' by Vijay of 'Poi Solla Porom' fame.According to reports, the untitled film will be directed by Manikandan, a former associate of cinematographer - director Jeeva. It was Manikandan who completed 'Dhaam Dhoom' following his mentor's sudden death on the sets of the film at Russia.

Genelia and Preethi Rao, the younger sister of Amritha Rao will be the heroines. Thamizh will crank the camera and the film will be shot in Karaikudi, Ooty and London.Arya has emerged the blue-eyed boy of the industry after 'Naan Kadavul' as he is being flooded with offers and his remuneration has rocketed sky high.

Rajini keen to work with Bala

Awestruck by Bala's 'Naan Kadavul', Rajinikanth invited Bala and actor Arya to his house recently and heaped laurels on them. However, this has started off many rumors that the actor is keen to do a film with the maverick director…. perhaps after completing 'Endhiran'.Bala's recent interview to the press only adds strength to the rumors. He had said that his next film will be more commercial with adequate song and dance sequences. Also he had expressed his desire to break away from his current image - that of making films on the dark realities of life.

Avid fans of Rajinikanth have expressed their desire that Rajinikanth should work for a movie with Bala. Both are perfectionists. This combination, they opine would certainly work wonders.According to reports, Rajinikanth had shot a letter to Bala stating that he was impressed with his work that brought the life of ‘Agori’ Saadhus to perfection. However, both could not be contacted to get their views as of now. If the two get-together, it could be a treat for film lovers.

Sameera's Height

Sameera Reddy has had an impressive start to her career in the Tamil film industry thanks to 'Varanam Aayiram' which showcased her as a desirable girl-next-door. Her onscreen chemistry with Suriya was awesome and that worked wonders for the film. Though the actress matched Suriya's dashing looks in every way, not many know that Sameera was asked to crouch a bit in many shots as she is taller than Suriya (like what Deepika Padukone experienced while filming 'Om Shanti Om' with Shahrukh Khan). The actress who stands five feet eight inches tall surely had height as a disadvantage.

That problem will cease to exist in her second film as she pairs with Ajith in 'Asal'. Ajith is taller than Sameera. The actress with a cute smile is mighty happy to be working with Ajith and what's more….she needn't crouch this time around.'Asal' would be Ajith's 50th film and is to be directed by Saran. The film is produced by Sivaji Productions.

Asin’s real life stunt

Asin, the Malabar girl who has made it big in Kollywood and on the way to making it bigger in Bollywood did a stunt of a sort in Mumbai in the busy Andheri area. While she was on her way to her shoot in her car, she suddenly came across a small boy in the middle of the road in the heavy traffic area trying to cross but totally clueless as to how to go about doing it.

The Good Samaritan that she is, Asin jumped out of her car, went to the little boy and took him aside. In this process she just got tripped and fell down with a couple of bruises. When contacted for her comments on this issue, the beautiful girl brushed it aside and said that she was completely acting in a normal fashion and there is nothing to comment on it.

Vettaikaran

The casting and finalizing of crew members for Vijay’s Vettaikaran has officially commenced recently. Earlier, Ravi Varman was said to have been roped in for the cinematography, however, recent reports aver that he has been replaced by Gopinath -without any apparent reason being quoted for the replacement. Although speculations are abuzz about the cause behind the change, Ravi Varman’s current commitment with Moscovin Kauvery is widely believed to be the main reason. More updates are awaited.

‘No more remix songs’ says Devi Sri Prasad

Young music composer Devi Sri Prasad says that from now on he will be concentrating on creating original scores than tuning remix songs.
‘I will do any remix songs only on director’s demand. Many people criticize that we are copying old songs. But American Band named Black eyed peas remixed Ilayaraj’s ‘Unakkum Enakkum Anandham’ out of inspiration not because they wanted to copy or didn’t have any other tunes. Most of the young generation musicians are inspired by old songs so I think there is no harm in remixing the song. It is also a portal of cultural sharing between the generation and the newer generations gets a chance to listen to old songs in their favorite tune’ says ‘Dheemthanakka’ singer and composer Devi Sri Prasad.
The musician has also acted in the lead along with Charmi in a Telugu flick. The Music director-Singer has a dozen of movies in his hands he is booked for this year throughout.

Simbhu Speaks For Slumdog

Produced by K Natarajan of Falcon Films, Nanum Kodeeswaran has actor Silambarasan dubbing for the hero Dev Patel, while playback singer S P Balasubramanian has given voice for Anil Kapoor and Radha Ravi for Irfan Khan. The film will be released on 14 February.

On dubbing for the movie, Silambarasan says, ‘I saw the film three times last week. I am so proud to be a part of such a landmark film which dominated the prestigious Golden Globe awards and is ready to pick several Oscar awards’.

Kanthaswamy in Spanish, English, Italian

At a recent press meet, Kanthaswamy’s producer Kalaipuli S. Dhanu announced that his film will be dubbed in Spanish, English and Italian! He also announced that three songs from Kanthaswamy will be in Italian for Italian audiences!

It looks like music director Devi Sri Prasad will work with a group of musicians from Italy in this regard. (As Dhanu made this announcement, Vikram – who has sung four songs in the film – quipped he cannot sing in Italian, eliciting roars of laughter from the crew and media personnel.)

It is a very good idea to dub this film in foreign languages, especially Spanish, a language widely used in Latin America. Remember, how many Mexicans mistook Vikram for a Mexican actor when the crew held their shoot in Mexico?! With looks that could pass as Latin American, handsome and sturdily-built Vikram is an actor that any Latin American could relate to. It will not be a wonder if Kanthaswamy does good business in Latin America!

Besides, the film bears a Spanish and Italian look, especially with Vikram and Shriya donning Spanish and Italian costumes in so many scenes and songs. One particular song in which Vikram appears as a matador has caught the attention of the Italians and Spaniards, who love bullfighting. This film presents a chance to them to view their culture from a foreigner’s perspective, a unique blend of local flavour and exotic. All these add up in Kanthaswamy’s favour.

As the producer said, Kanthaswamy will be a distributors’ and exhibitors’ delight! Come summer, when Kanthaswamy releases, it is going to pour moolah for all its distributors and exhibitors.

Sarvam audio launch on Feb 14

February indeed happens to be a fantastic month for Aarya as he has lots of celebrations in film industry. With his magnum opus ‘Naan Kadavul’ hitting worldwide screens today, ‘Sarvam’ will have its audio launched on February 14. None needs a better illustration for the best comb of Vishnuvardhan-Aarya-Yuvan Shankar Raja spelling magical treats with ‘Arindhum Ariyamalum’ and ‘Pattiyal’. However, sources have revealed that it’s a remake of Hindi film and the story is all about vengeance. If what they say is true, then the story goes this way….

Aarya and Trisha are in love…. Aarya’s happy life is shattered when Trisha is murdered by J.D. Chakravarthy. Trisha’s eyes are now placed for a small kid. Well, this is something we heard.

Stay with TamilThunder.com for the audio..

Ambani gets Kites for 110 Crores

Foraying into another area of the film industry in a big way, Anil Ambani has launched Big Boom to distribute and market movies. The first purchase of this new undertaking has made waves in the industry as does every move that the Ambanis make. The rights for the Hrithik Roshan starrer Kites which is currently being shot has been bought for a whopping 110 crores by Big Boom.

This is a huge sum going by any standards and is by far the highest price that an Indian film has fetched for its rights beating even the recent blockbuster Ghajini. It is estimated that the rights worth Rs. 110 crores and distribution of other profit shares would come close to Rs. 150 crore. This proves the huge confidence of the Ambanis in Hrithik Roshan's star value and the quality of the Rakesh Roshan production house inspiring them to invest such a huge amount in a film that is still very much in the making. Kites stars Hrithik Roshan and Kangana ranaut.

This is not the first venture of Anil Ambani in the film industry. Adlabs, the production house and processing facility is already a prominent presence in Bollywood and Kollywood. Though their success rate in production has not been too good, let's hope that their new endeavour takes off well.

Trisha to pair Dhanush

Charming Trisha will pair with Dhanush for the very first time in the second venture of 'Polladhavan' director Vetri Maaran. The yet-to-be-named film will start shooting from the 22nd of this month in Madurai.

Interestingly, Trisha would be playing a role which would be completely new to her. She plays a Madurai based Anglo Indian girl who eventually falls in love with a street smart 'loafer' Dhanush. A lot of effort is being made to bring out the authenticity of the characters. Apart from Trisha having to train as a pucca Madurai Anglo Indian, Dhanush too will appear in a never-seen-before appearance. The actor is currently preparing to be armed with the Madurai diction along with the necessary body language needed for the character.

Though not much is known about the film, there are a few who say that the story is based on a real life incident that happened in Madurai decades ago. Vetri Maaran is known for his neat screenplay ability that brings about a stunning effect on audiences. If 'Polladhavan' stunned audiences narrating the story of a boy who finds his motorbike stolen, this new film is expected to have many twists and turns that have the potential to enthrall audiences.

Not divulging much about the project, director Vetri Maaran said, 'Dhanush is a much bigger star now than he was when we worked for Polladhavan'.

Would that also mean this new film would be much bigger than 'Polladhavan' Vetri Maaran?

Jai’s Liplock with Vijayalakshmi in Adhe Neram Adhe Nimidam

Actor Jai and Vijayalakshmi turned to be so close right from ‘Chennai 600028′. Now teaming up together for another film titled ‘Adhe Neram Adhe Nimidam’ has indeed got them so closer and they have been maintaining a good relationship.

There is a particular sequence in the film where they had to go through Liplock. Yeah! The scene actually has Vijayalakshmi having hiccups and to stop that we our hero with this action. The film directed by M. Prabhu happens to be a musical-suspense-thriller.

Venkat Prabhu’s brother Premgi Amaran has scored music for the film. The background score has been so fantastically spelled.
